Liz Gait
Personal profile
Liz Gait has 20 years of Local Authority experience commencing in generic HR, through Learning & Development and into Organisation/Leadership Development.
Liz has a passion for creating inspirational leadership and team development programmes. She utilises Insights Discovery (www.insights.com) which is a colourful tool and global leader in profiling tools. It is the foundation stone for developing self-awareness for leaders and teams and in creating fun activities in sessions.
Liz works in partnership with her clients in developing bespoke content to tackle their challenges in innovative ways. She has worked with international organisations including Motorola and Synlab, local authorities including Herefordshire Council and South Gloucestershire and other public bodies including the British Transport Police, West Mercia Police and the Local Government & Social Care Ombudsman.
Liz has a passion for learning and churns through a minimum of one leadership book per month - turning this into inspirational content for the training room. Some of her favourite books include High Performance by Jake Humphrey and Damian Hughes, Fierce Conversations by Susan Scott, Radical Candor by Kim Scott and Five Dysfunctions/The Ideal Team Player by Patrick Lencioni. She is also a keen fan of all the books by Simon Sinek and all of these publications plus others have contributed to content which help teams to focus on a shared purpose, outcomes, building trust and vulnerability and within leadership development, Liz has created material which enables managers to be infinite in their approach, using great coaching and performance enablement skills to facilitate others in being the best version of themselves.
When Liz looks to work with clients, she aims to find those who ‘believe what she believes’ (Simon Sinek) namely the value of people in organisations, all being their best selves.
Following inspiration from Matthew Syed’s book ‘Rebel Ideas’ Liz has piloted a brand new programme at Torfaen County Borough Council which has trained facilitators internally to go on an internal ‘Rebel Tour’ to facilitate groups of people to utilise creative thinking techniques to challenge problems, including specially designed ‘Creativity Cards’ to use within sessions.
