Mo Bains – Latest trends, data and thinking in local government

Mo has decades of experience in public policy work and in local government; with a specific interest in service delivery models in local government Mo is passionate about delivering excellence in public services. 

Julie Nugent – Case study on working with a new leadership model

Over the last 20 years, she has shown a strong track record in attracting and delivering investment to support businesses, people, and communities. Julie has worked at a senior level across various organisations, at a national, regional, and local level – including senior roles in government, the voluntary and education sectors.

Heather Murray – How teams can work with AI for a modern workplace

Heather provides AI training and consultancy, helping non-technical leaders integrate generative AI to streamline operations, scale efficiently, and focus on what matters most.

I AFTERNOON SESSION I

Andy Begley – Radical Organisation Redesign – to deliver large efficiencies and transform services

Andy is a seasoned leader with 25+ years’ experience in both the public and private sectors. He has held roles such as Executive Director of Adult Services, Housing, and Public Health, and Director of Adult Services at Shropshire Council. Andy also serves on the Integrated Care Board for Shropshire and Telford, bringing expertise in strategic planning, policy, and operational delivery.

Sir David Thompson, Panel Discussion and real-world learning experiences.

Sir David Thompson is a Strategic Advisor/Consultant at Midland Blue, with extensive experience in UK law enforcement and public affairs. He has led major transformation programmes in West Midlands Police and nationally, and oversaw Policing and Security for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. Sir David now supports transformation across policing, public service, and the private sector through consultancy, with significant expertise in crisis management.

Peter Cheese, CIPD – The new world of work

Peter is the CEO of the CIPD, the professional body for HR and People Development. He is also Chair of Engage for Success , was Chair of What Works Centre for Wellbeing, and sits on the Board of the College of Policing. He sits on many forums linked to wellbeing, diversity and inclusion, routes in to work and skills, flexible working, and corporate governance.

Kat Thorne: Making healthy habits – how to build resilience to manage for the future

Kat is a positive habits international keynote speaker, teacher and consultant. Her life story of workaholism, breakdown and burnout inspires global audiences to make one small habit change. After losing everything in 2016, she had no choice but to start again. With one small habit.
