Do you see a gap between where you are and where you want to be? Could you do with some help and motivation to get there? If so, accessing a coach or mentor could be the answer. 

Our Offer:

Coaching and mentoring are proven techniques which can greatly enhance an individuals’ confidence and performance.

At Telford & Wrekin Council, we believe that coaching and mentoring play a key role in developing our employees and the organisation as a whole. 

Our offer provides employees with access to a pool of in-house trained coaches and mentors who are qualified to at least ILM Level 5 in Coaching & Mentoring. In addition, as a member of the Public Sector Coaching and Mentoring Pool, employees can also access a substantial pool of qualified coaches and mentors from a range of organisations across the region. 

Who can access coaching and mentoring:

Coaching and mentoring is offered available to all employees as a form of development.

If it becomes necessary to prioritise requests, the following groups will be given priority access to coaching / mentoring:

  • Employees undertaking a management and leadership programme or qualification
  • Managers looking to develop key management and leadership skills
  • Those employees under formal notice of compulsory redundancy who, as part of our Redeployment Scheme, are entitled to 2 coaching sessions

Is coaching / mentoring for me? 

Coaching and/or mentoring will usually be identified as an appropriate route for personal development through your one-to-one discussions with your manager or you might identify this as a development need yourself. Either way, it is important to consider:

  • What you are hoping to achieve from coaching / mentoring
  • Whether you are most likely to benefit from working with a coach or a mentor

How to apply for a coach / mentor

Your line manager’s support is essential, therefore it is important that you discuss and agree your needs and expectations with your manager.

Following discussions with your line manager, if you think coaching or mentoring is right for you, click here to register on the online matching site, either as a coachee or mentee, after which you will be able to select either an internal coach or mentor or a coach or mentor from the Public Sector pool
