A creative, solution-focused HR professional with over 30 years’ experience. I have a significant track record of achievement across a wide range of public and private sector organisations. My focus is to support the development of leaders and managers to achieve their best potential, enabling their teams to do likewise, with employee engagement at the heart. When conflict-based HR interventions are unavoidable, my approach is practical and professional, based on experience of a variety of complex cases involving performance management, disciplinaries, grievances, and appeals. Additionally, I have a background in policy development and change management, including supporting redundancy processes.
My work history and experience include conducting complex investigations through to presentation of findings. I have considerable experience sitting on a variety of hearing panels, including advising Elected Members.
I am experienced in strategy and policy development including working with key stakeholders across organisations to ensure understanding and buy-in. This major area of work experience includes development of a change management process with a redundancy and redeployment programme to ensure business outcomes were delivered, professionally and fairly with employees and managers supported throughout.
Areas of expertise include:
These are supported by excellent communication skills, with a genuine interest in engaging with my audience to achieve the best outcome possible.
Background
I have a wide range of experience, working for nearly 20 years in the public sector, latterly operating as a Head of HR (Change & Strategy) for a large Unitary Authority until moving into a self-employed consultant role. During my time as a consultant I have worked with a number of local authorities, and also wider public sector partners such as the police.
This background gives me a thorough understanding of the challenges and needs of the public sector.
Prior to this, I spent 10 years working for 3 large private sector organisations covering generalist HR through to senior management roles. This developed my skillset not only in human resources but also ensuring an understanding of the wider commercial needs of the business and working together across the organisation.
I have a murder mystery business which I am currently expanding to cover team building events and skills development workshops.
