Steven Jackson
Personal profile
The org chart and the process map describe how things should work. Steven starts with the reality.
Most services don’t have process problems, they have workaround systems.
Steven (MCIPD) is an HR professional with 30+ years’ experience, including FTSE 100 and FTSE 250 organisations, and 20 years supporting local government. He improves services by focusing on the real flow of work: handoffs, queues, missing information, informal routing and the unofficial tasks people rely on to keep things moving.
Selected outcomes:
- Reduced avoidable customer complaints by fixing “stuck user” pathways.
- Cut administrative turnaround time by 50% by simplifying forms and closing information gaps.
- Stabilised a failing maintenance stock process in six weeks, operationally and financially.
His WME work has focused on job evaluation and workforce change, across sectors he has evaluated 5,000+ roles, bringing governance, consistency and fairness. This strengthens his operational work by linking workflow to roles, responsibilities, decision rights and capacity. He delivers this through a one day team workshop or a half day Problem Reset session for a recurring issue starting with: “What would reliably make this worse?”
For both type of Councils, Steven has worked as a Project Manager, a Job Evaluation Consultant, undertaken reviews of multiple processes such as corporate complaints and consulted on restructures.
Steven’s main focus is on business improvement and efficiency both at a corporate and operational level, shaping services to deliver value adding work.
