Malvern Hills and Wychavon Councils: Transforming recruitment through collaboration
By Katrina Whitby, Talent Acquisition Consultant at West Midlands Employers
During the launch and implementation of the WMTalent Acquisition service, it’s been incredible to witness how innovation and collaboration can help transform public sector recruitment. Each organisation had various goals to achieve and obstacles to overcome during the collective implementation, however with a common goal and lots of hard work from HR teams across the region, we were able to achieve initial key milestones on time and budget.  From the outset, the challenges were undeniable— off line paperwork, fragmented systems, and inconsistent candidate experiences.   But this wasn’t just about fixing processes; it was about reimagining recruitment through shared services and technology. By bringing together 16 public sector organisations under a single, unified framework, we didn’t just improve efficiency—we set a new standard for collaboration and impact
The work of Malvern Hills and Wychavon District Councils is a powerful example of what’s possible when challenges are re-imagined as opportunities, technology is an enabler, experience is as important as process and careful planning and communication is managed well.  Congratulations to the team for your passion and commitment to transforming recruitment in your organisation and thankyou for being part of our Tribe.
This journey showcases the immense potential of shared services in the public sector, and it’s only the beginning. As WMTalent Acquisition continues to grow, so too does the opportunity to deliver transformational change across the West Midlands and beyond.
