Discover how ADCS and ADASS networks are leading the way in collaborative transformation
Through our partnerships with the West Midlands ADCS Network [the Regional Association for Directors of Children's Services] and the West Midlands ADASS Network [the Association of Directors of Adults Social Services], we are stabilising the temporary workforce through a Memorandum of Understanding on agency worker pay rates and various projects aimed at building a stronger, more resilient workforce.
Expanding Impact: The West Midlands Adults Social Care Memorandum of Commitment
West Midlands ADASS has partnered with West Midlands Employers to develop a programme of initiatives around recruitment, retention and resilience, to support councils with their adult social care workforce priorities and programmes.
Drawing on our experience in successfully managing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Children’s Social Care, we are working with local authorities to implement an Adults Social Care MoC. It is important as a sector that we proactively work together across all service areas to monitor and manage pay rate pressures, ensuring a fair, transparent, and regionally aligned approach to workforce planning.
Through a shared commitment across the West Midlands, Directors of Adult Social Services, Assistant Directors, and Principal Social Workers are dedicated to embedding the MoC within their services. We are currently working towards an MoC being in effect [subject to approval] from April 2025.
We're delighted to have a three-year strategic partnership arrangement in place between West Midlands Employers and West Midlands ADASS.
WME is working with us to deliver practical adult social care workforce initiatives and improvements across the sector in the region.
